Design Concept: "Island Retreat: Privacy and Harmony in Deconstructivist Living". Nestled on the serene island of Cyprus, this residential design concept reimagines the traditional family home with a contemporary deconstructivist approach. The one-floor residence, tailored for a family of four, embraces the island's sunny climate and celebrates privacy as its central theme. Anchored by a steel frame system with wide spans, the design blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, culminating in a courtyard pool area that serves as the heart of communal activity while offering seclusion and tranquility.
The design prioritizes privacy, catering to the introverted lifestyle of the residents. With careful consideration of sightlines and spatial arrangement, the residence provides secluded retreats within its fluid architectural form.At the heart of the residence lies a lush courtyard oasis, enveloped by the steel frame structure. Serving as the focal point of communal activity, the courtyard features a serene pool surrounded by verdant landscaping, offering a private sanctuary for family gatherings, leisurely pursuits, and outdoor dining. Embracing Cyprus's sun-drenched climate, the design blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces to maximize connectivity and comfort. Expansive glass walls, sliding doors, and operable louvers invite natural light and ventilation into the interiors while providing uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape. Residents can effortlessly transition between the sheltered confines of the residence and the open expanse of the courtyard, fostering a sense of continuity and freedom.Drawing inspiration from the deconstructivist movement, the design celebrates the interplay of form, function, and materiality. The steel frame system, with its bold geometric lines and wide spans, serves as both a structural framework and a sculptural expression of architectural innovation.
