Located on the dramatic cliffs of Edremit, Kyrenia, DM House is a bespoke private residence designed on a challenging sloped site with an 8-meter level difference. Positioned at the end of a cul-de-sac, the property required an innovative architectural solution that would respect local regulations while embracing the site’s breathtaking topography and panoramic mountain and sea views.
The primary design strategy was to place the house on the highest point of the plot, allowing every space to capture the surrounding natural beauty. A 35-meter ramp leads from the cul-de-sac to the residence, navigating the steep incline through carefully planned terracing, retaining walls, and landscaped transitions.
The residence features four en-suite bedrooms. The ground floor includes a two-car garage, an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space, connected vertically by a central steel staircase. Large floor-to-ceiling glass panels open up the main living areas to an expansive terrace and an infinity-edge pool that appears to hover above the cliff edge.
One of the most striking architectural gestures is the cantilevered master suite, projecting 4 meters beyond the cliffline and positioned directly above the pool. Outdoor spaces are designed across different levels of the site, offering varied atmospheres from a bonfire lounge at the lower level with sea views to elevated terraces ideal for quiet retreats. The basement also features a custom-designed simulation (CIM) room, tailored to the lifestyle needs of the residents.
In 2023, DM House was awarded Silver Winner in the Private Housing Architecture Concept/Professional Category by the internationally recognized Architecture & Design Community. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights the project’s innovation, spatial quality, and seamless integration with its challenging site.
